Marketing has gone from GRPs to CPCs. While I started out in a world where traditional media was still the gold standard there is no doubt that everything, TV included, is going digital. At this year's Google Brand Event they announced that in 2019 50% of 18-34 year olds have 'cut the chord' on cable. An additional 23% plan to unsubscribe which would bring that number to 73% in 2010. Netflix, Crave, DAZN, and even YouTube Premium are steadily taking away from TV advertising budgets. Your traditional advertising strategy can't be separate from your digital strategy.
Even digital strategy is ever evolving, where a few years ago Display was king and content marketing meant influencers and organic social media. Now, branded content, video, and YouTube are some of the most successful tools in your toolkit and data is the equity marketing runs on. The success of your digital marketing efforts are tied directly to how well you tell your story and at what stages you deliver that message and how. The ever changing world of digital marketing, the most important thing is to measure everything, and always have your finger on the pulse of where the industry is headed.
